As if normal Muddy Buddies weren’t deadly enough, throw in some Butterfinger and you’ve got yourself something completely lethal!
I saw this over at Crumbs and Chaos the other day and couldn’t resist making it. I needed muddy buddies that day like I needed a hole in my head because I’d already eaten more than my share of “treats” that day.
This stuff is dangerous, seriously dangerous and I made the mistake of making this while all my boys were at school. Yep, it was just me and the big ol’ bowl of this deliciousness. I’m telling you right now, I could have devoured the entire bowl . . . I’m not even joking. This stuff should be kept under lock and key.
Oh this is insanely good! The Rice Chex cereal and pretzels are thickly coated in peanut butter and milk chocolate, then dusted in powdered sugar and finely chopped Butterfinger candy bars and then to top it off, bigger chunks of Butterfinger are scattered throughout.
You need to make these so you can see for yourself just how good this is. Feel free to invite me over if you need help eating them . . . .but I’m pretty sure you won’t!
- 5 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 2 cups pretzel sticks , broken in half
- 12 fun-size Butterfinger candy bars
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 bag milk chocolate chips
- 2 + cups powdered sugar
Prepare a baking sheet by lining with waxed or parchment paper or a silpat mat.
Mix together cereal and pretzel sticks in a large bowl.
Cut each candy bar into thirds. Set aside the pieces that are mostly intact and finely chop what's remaining. You should have between 3/4 and 1 cup of finely chopped candy bar.
Add the butter, peanut butter and chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl, heat in microwave for 1 minute. Stir and heat for another 30 seconds; stir again. If it's not entirely melted and smooth, heat for another 30 seconds.
Pour over cereal and mix well.
Dump the powdered sugar and finely chopped candy bar over the cereal mixture. Take two large spoons and gently toss until entire bowl of cereal mixture is coated in the powdered sugar. Spread onto baking sheet.
Add the bigger pieces of chopped candy bars to the mix before devouring.
Becca over at Crumbs and Chaos mixes everything together in two batches in a Ziploc bag. I just mixed it the way I mix Muddy Buddies when I make them. If you would rather do it in a Ziploc bag, you can see her directions at Crumbs and Chaos.
