Ingredients For These Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
To make these amazing cookies, all you need is the usual chocolate chip cookie party guest list. But with the browned butter, it’s going to be a slightly fancier party this time😋!
- butter (I always use salted)
- granulated sugar & brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- eggs
- all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt
- chocolate chips (I use both semisweet and milk chocolate)
These cookies are soft, chewy, and the brown butter adds caramel and a slight nuttiness that gives the cookies the BEST flavor. You’re going to fall in love.
Please just humor me and pretend like you’re not tired of another cookie recipe. If you make them, you’ll be thanking me later.

Description
These cookies have amazing flavor, are crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle . . . complete cookie perfection. ♡
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter, browned
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
Browning the butter:
- Cut the butter into small pieces for even melting. Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Swirling the pan a few times as the butter melts.
- Once melted, watch carefully, until butter foams and just turns a golden brown color (little brown bits will start to form around the sides and bottom of pan), continue stirring/swirling the pan to prevent it from burning.
- Once the butter turns that golden brown color, remove from the heat and immediately transfer the butter to a heatproof bowl and put in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Making the Cookies:
- In bowl of an electric mixer, mix browned butter (make sure you scrape all the brown bits into your bowl) both sugars and vanilla together, beat on medium high speed for 2-3 minutes. Add egg and beat for 1 to 2 minutes, until shiny and smooth.
- Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Preheat your oven at this point to 350 degrees. Let the dough sit for about 10 to 15 minutes while the oven preheats.
- Scoop 3 tablespoons of dough onto parchment lined baking sheets. Cook for 9 minutes, until the edges look cooked, but the middles are still slightly soft and puffy.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies rest for about 5 minutes then transfer to a cooling rack. Let cookies sit for about another 5 minutes.
