I realized the other day that I have yet to share a recipe for just simple, plain ol’ chocolate-frosted brownies. I was a little shocked because, um, hello, brownies are one of my favorite things on this planet. So today I am finally sharing a long-time family recipe.
The recipe comes from my Great Aunt Elva and is a family favorite. She was such a funny lady. I think she was 91 when she died. She was a huge Utah Jazz fan and would always wear Utah Jazz t-shirts, big flowery clip-on earrings and tennis shoes (I think they were Reeboks). She dyed her hair well into her late 80s . . . she was just a hoot! We all loved and adored her. Every time there are brownies at a family party, someone always asks; “Are these Aunt Elva’s brownies?”
These brownies are dense and chewy and absolutely, positively scrumptious. Then when you frost them with my yummy, favorite chocolate frosting you’ve got yourself one amazing brownie. Talk about chocolate heaven . . . . sooo good! I’m pretty sure I consumed an entire row out of the pan in a matter of 15 minutes the other day. I finally had to hide them from myself which didn’t do much good because I just got them back out the next day and consumed about two more rows . . . seriously I did.

I made 2 batches of these today! One gluten free and one regular, and I also added some mint frosting in the middle of the brownie and the chocolate frosting and topped them with Andes mints, they were amazing!!!! The perfect mint brownies! (I didn’t put in the chocolate chips, but I should have put in some Andes mint chips :/) I’m defiantly, going to remember this recipe, thanks Jody!!!
