Slow Cooker Italian Bowtie Dinner

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. hot Italian sausage
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) Italian diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 oz mini bow tie pasta, cooked and drained (cook just before adding to slow cooker)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese


  1. In a skillet brown ground beef and sausage until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook a couple more minutes. Transfer to a crock pot.
  2. Stir in the tomato sauce, tomatoes, and seasonings.
  3. Cook on low for 2-3 hours.
  4. Just before serving, stir in chopped spinach, cooked pasta and 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese and parmesean cheese. Stir until well combined then sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top, put lid back on and let sit for about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  5. Garnish with parmesan cheese.
