This Ground Beef Fried Rice is a simple and super flavorful dinner made in under 30 minutes! Packed with so much flavor and veggies, it’s a mouthwatering meal will please the whole family.

You all know how much I love a skillet meal that is fast, easy and delicious! Well this ground beef fried rice checks all those boxes! This is a keeper of a recipe and one you will want to make on repeat.
We are a household that loves fried rice. . . my ham fried rice is made on repeat and is a family favorite. This steak fried rice is also fantastic and gets devoured when I make it. I am thrilled to add another fried rice recipe to my collection. This one is so good and can easily be tailored to your liking.
It’s super easy to make and comes together in just under 30 minutes.

Line up of ingredients:
- Sesame Oil Adds a nutty and authentic Asian flavor to the beef and rice. I buy toasted sesame oil, but regular is fine too.
- Onion. Yellow or white onion is fine.
- Garlic. Fresh garlic cloves are always best, but minced garlic in the jar or even garlic powder will work.
- Jalapeño. If you want a little more heat in your fried rice then add some chopped fresh jalapeno. This is completely optional.
- Lean Ground Beef. I use 85/15, but you can use any kind you prefer. Just be sure to drain off any excess grease.
- Cooked Rice. I love to use sushi rice or sticky rice whenever I make fried rice. Feel free to use any kind of rice you have. Also day old rice is best because it’s drier and is perfect for frying. I have made rice the morning I want to make fried rice and then let it cool in the fridge all day and it’s worked great.
- Mixed Frozen Veggies. I prefer using peas and carrots, but some people like to use mixed veggies with corn and beans as well. You whatever you’d like and remember you dump them right in frozen, no need to thaw them first.
- Eggs. Eggs add protein to this dish and are so good! I sometimes throw in an extra egg or two because I love lots of egg in my fried rice.
For the Sauce . . .
- Soy Sauce. Use either regular or low sodium soy, whichever you prefer.
- Hoisin Sauce. This is a rich and sweet sauce that is so good! You can find it grocery stores in the international aisle. I love the brand Lee Kum Kee brand.
- Sriracha. This adds a little spice. Feel free to adjust the amount according to your taste buds. Our favorite brand is this one.
- Seasoned Rice Vinegar. This vinegar is a little sweeter than most other vinegars. It’s also found in grocery stores usually in the international aisle and/or with all the other vinegars.
Super easy to make!

- Cook your eggs in large skillet with 1 tablespoon of the sesame oil. Remove them to plate and set them aside.
- In the same skillet add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and cook the ground beef, onion and garlic and continue cooking until meat is fully cooked. Once the meat is fully cooked add the sauce and continue cooking and stirring until the meat is fully covered in the sauce. (Oops! I forgot to add the onion and garlic before I took the pics and I also forgot to get pictures of the sauced poured over the . . . some days my brain doesn’t work).

- Add the frozen mixed veggies and sauté for about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the rice and the scrambled eggs and continue to cook over medium heat until everything is heated through.

You guys are going to love this one! It’s one of those dinners and doesn’t disappoint and is super versatile. Feel free to use ground chicken or turkey in place of the ground beef. This dish has amazing flavor is packed with so much goodness!
Storing:
If you manage to have any leftovers, store it in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator or you can freeze it for 2 to 3 months in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag. I like to reheat it in a skillet with a little sesame oil added. You can also reheat it in the microwave. When I reheat leftover fried rice in the microwave I like to spritz it with a water bottle to help moisten the rice back up.
Enjoy!

Notes
- I love to use sushi/sticky rice when I make fried rice, but any kind of cooked rice will work.
- After making this a few times, I’ve decided that this would be even more delicious with more sauce because it’s so good. So the next time I make this I am going to one and a half the sauce recipe. I’ll report back.

Hi Jodi,
I made this recipe last night for my family and they all enjoyed it. I did not have any however because I am eating low carb. My husband, who is very picky about his fried rice said it was very good though.
Also after reading your notes, I doubled the sauce as well and I think it was better that way.
Thank you
Great recipe!
Using it as meal prep for the week and will reheat in the skillet each serving.
Love the spice that you get from the jalapeno and siracha!
So happy you gave this a try and loved it! Thanks for the comment!
