This Homemade Eggnog is a Christmas tradition at our house and has been for years. It’s absolutely amazing and worth every single calorie. Whipping cream and sweetened condensed milk . . .need I say more?
On the 8th Day of Sugar my true love gave to me Homemade Eggnog. . . Now I know when it comes to eggnog, there are lovers and haters. I happen to be a lover of this homemade eggnog, but the stuff you buy in the carton at the store, I can take it or leave it, but mostly leave it. I’ve never really been of fan of the store-bought stuff. I don’t detest it, I just don’t love or ever crave the stuff. My mom introduced our family to this amazing eggnog years ago and it instantly became a family favorite. She makes it every Christmas morning. My Parker looks forward to the eggnog Christmas morning as much as or even possibly more than he does getting presents, I’m not even joking. He dreams about it for days, again, not joking.
Now I know the whole raw egg thing might freak some of you out and that’s ok. But the fact of the matter is, my family and I have been drinking this stuff for years and we’re all still alive and no one has ever gotten sick.
This eggnog is sweet, but not too sweet, creamy and amazingly delicious. After it chills in the fridge, it forms a frothy layer on top . . . Mmmm! I’m sure one of the reasons I love this eggnog so much could be because it has a can of sweetened condensed milk in it. Oh how I love that stuff!
If you’re looking for a fabulous drink to enjoy Christmas morning, look no further, you’ve come to the right place.

Homemade Eggnog
Ingredients
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 quart milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup whipping cream, whipped
- Nutmeg for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix eggs, sweetened condensed milk, milk, vanilla and salt.
- Fold in whipped cream.
- Chill for several hours. Serve sprinkled with nutmeg.
Notes
- I highly, highly recommend using freshly grated nutmeg. I’ve professed my love before of the fresh stuff. The difference between freshly ground nutmeg and pre-ground nutmeg is huge. I promise it’s so much better. It’s a little pricey, but worth it and lasts forever.

What size sweetneed condensed milk?
Hi Marjorie! It’s a 14 oz can. I’m pretty sure that is the only size sweetened condensed milk comes in.
