Parker has been trying to get his best friend Sam and a girl named Sloane together since Kindergarten (they are now in second grade). He has been extremely persistent in his efforts. He has told Sam about candlelight dinners (Sam asked him if he meant like birthday candles), and also suggested Sam start “batting his eyes” at Sloane. I’m sure some of you are wondering where he got the idea about candlelight dinners. Let me just set the record straight . . . he DID NOT get the idea from his parents . . . honestly!
Well, a few weeks ago Parker was having some doubts about his matchmaking skills. He walked into my room one night and said:
“Mom, I have some bad news. I’m retiring from my matchmaking business.” When I asked him why his response was: “Because I have been working on the Sam and Sloane case since Kindergarten and things haven’t worked out.”
Seriously, what do you say to that? I just laughed, and laughed and laughed while I quickly wrote it down in my “Things Parker Says” notebook.
I was relieved to hear a few days later that he had changed his mind. He is back in business and is working harder than ever!
